San Diego

San Diego

I have had San Diego on my mind quite a bit lately. I spent two years of my life living there while I was getting my degree. Once I finished school, I decided to move back home to the Bay Area. Somehow it feels like

Carmel-By-The-Sea

Carmel-By-The-Sea This small beachside city is known for it’s scenic ocean views and art galleries galore. I’m not surprised countless films and television shows have used Carmel as their backdrop. It’s gorgeous and charming to say the least. Make sure not to miss it when

Big Sur

Big Sur

The beautiful coastal city located on California’s famous Route 1.

Big Sur is growing in popularity thanks to the extraordinary images captured on Instagram. The beautiful ocean views, epic Bixby Bridge, lush hills, and rugged coastline make this a popular stop for everyone on the Route 1 journey.

As a California native, driving along the coast to and from Southern California can feel like a bit of a nightmare. Winding, narrow roads, frequent stops, slow drivers that are hypnotized by the incredible views? Which way to highway 5? In all seriousness, Cabrillo Highway (or Route 1) is a beautiful road to take if you are visiting California and have the time to stop by incredible cities like Big Sur.

Our journey along Cabrillo Highway started near Monterey and only went as far as Big Sur. Even though we only spent a day in Big Sur, I got to capture some incredible photos and see possibly everything important it had to offer. A day, or even a few hours on your Route 1 journey, is all you really need for Big Sur. However, there are campgrounds and nice/luxury hotels in the area. If you want to stay in a hotel but save some money, I’d recommend something outside of Big Sur. Monterey is a bit more budget friendly in comparison to Big Sur.

The McWay waterfall is a bit difficult to capture in a photograph due to the size and distance from the viewing point. I’ll upload my Big Sur videos to my Instagram story which will be up until 4pm tomorrow and on my California highlights after that.

I have another coastal town coming up next week. Until next time, I hope you enjoyed these photos.

Monterey Bay

Monterey Bay

The city of Monterey is a popular weekend getaway for those living in Northern California. However, the famous Monterey Bay Aquarium attracts visitors from all over. Possibly because it’s the best aquarium in the world! And I’ve heard this said by an oceanography professor, so

The first time I noticed the flower fields was on my way to San Diego. We were driving on highway 5 with fields on one side and the ocean on the other. I desperately wanted to stop and take photos in the fields but we were

Afternoon Tea |The Rotunda

Afternoon Tea |The Rotunda

Many of you may not know I have a slight obsession with tea. I always order a cup of hot tea or a glass of sweet tea when I dine out. I’ll even go into grocery stores when I’m aboard just to look through their tea selection and buy the ones I’ve never tasted. It’s interesting to see all the flavors of tea that aren’t available in my home country. At this point, I may be a tea expert since I could tell you the most common flavors of tea in almost any country.

Inside Neiman Marcus

Due to my love of tea, I have always enjoyed the idea of having an afternoon tea in a fine dining setting. This is why for my 21st birthday, I decided a few close friends and myself should celebrate by having an Afternoon Tea. And what better place than going to one of the finest restaurants in San Francisco located on the top floor of Neiman Marcus.

I booked a reservation online because I read you need one (especially for afternoon tea). The tea service is only available during specific times so make sure you book in advance before the spots fill up.

Afternoon Tea is served daily: Sun-Thur 2:30 – 4 pm; Fri-Sat 2:30 – 5 pm

I was a bit nervous when we got there that the staff would see a bunch of 20 year olds and be rude to us. After all, we were having High Tea inside of a department store only the wealthy can afford. However, the staff was very lovely and greeted us with smiles when we walked to the front desk to be seated.

Three of us opted for the signature tea service for around $50 per person, but they also have a Grand tea service and Royal tea service. It just depends if you want wine or just tea.

I ordered the Jardin Bleu tea which is a “blend of teas from india and china, flavored with rhubarb, wild strawberry and cornflower petals.” I really enjoyed this flavor but they also have a few other flavors I would love to try in the future. They have a tea flavor for everyone, so I would recommend going with whichever flavor you gravitate towards.

Afternoon Tea at Neiman Marcus inside of the beautiful Rotunda is definitely all about the experience. It’s the perfect place to go if you want to dress up and feel wealthy with a group of close friends while sipping your tea and eating small snacks. If you’re looking to eat something more appetizing, they do have a regular menu as well.

If you’re not from the Bay Area, or have been living under a rock your whole life, the Conservatory of Flowers is a greenhouse located in San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park filled with rare and unusual tropical plants and holds special exhibits. I went during
