Fiesole

Incredible view of Florence from Fiesole

Fiesole is home to gorgeous villas and ancient Roman ruins. It’s the perfect day trip from Florence, Italy. You can choose to stay for a few hours or all day since it isn’t a long train journey like some other cities. It’s a short drive (10-25 minutes) or a long walk (1-2 hours), however, I would recommend taking a bus or tour if you’re traveling in Italy without a car. A website called Rome2Rio has information on which buses to take and how much it will cost you.

We started off our trip by walking around the center of the city near the Fiesole Cathedral and made our way up Via Antonio Gramsci. This street was full of restaurants, stores, and bakeries. It was the perfect place to walk around and stop for a coffee & pastry before heading to the Archaeological Area.

Archaeological Civic Museum

The Archaeological Museum is home to some interesting and strange material remains that were excavated from Fiesole and donated. More than a few strange objects caught me off guard due to their uniqueness.

Other Things To Do: Villa Medici, Convent of San Domenico, San Francesco Monetary, Museum Bandini, Fontelucente, Fiesole Museum, Fondazione Primo Conti Onlus, and Church of Santa Maria Primerana.
